To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the motion control levers are in the neutral position. Turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Regular maintenance includes checking the engine oil level before each use, changing the oil every 100 hours, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening blades every 25 hours. Refer to the user manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it's even on all tires. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Verify that the deck is level from side to side and front to back. Adjust if necessary.
Ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline and the fuel valve is open. Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure the battery is charged. Inspect the spark plug for damage or wear and replace if necessary.
Adjust the cutting height using the foot-operated deck lift system. Press the deck lift pedal and move the height adjustment lever to the desired setting. Release the pedal to lock the deck in place.
Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance. Check that the blade bolts are tightened to the specified torque. Examine the deck for debris that might be causing the vibration.
After each use, remove grass clippings and debris from the deck using a brush or air blower. For a thorough clean, safely lift the mower and use a hose to wash the underside of the deck.
Use SAE 10W-30 or SAE 30 oil that meets or exceeds API service classification SJ or higher. Always check the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations.
To change the hydraulic fluid, first, park the mower on a level surface and allow the engine to cool. Drain the old fluid from the hydraulic system and refill with the manufacturer's recommended hydraulic oil. Bleed the system to remove any air pockets.
Ensure the mower is on a flat surface and the engine is off with the key removed. Use a block to prevent the blade from turning and remove the blade bolt with a wrench. Replace with a new blade, ensuring it is installed in the correct orientation, and tighten the bolt securely.
