The recommended maintenance schedule includes checking the engine oil, air filter, and fuel filter before each use, sharpening the blades every 25 hours of operation, and performing a full service check every 100 hours.
First, check the battery connections and charge level. Ensure the fuel tank is full and the fuel valve is open. Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Finally, inspect the air filter for clogs and clean or replace it if needed.
Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil that meets API service classification SJ or higher. The oil should be changed every 100 hours of use or annually, whichever comes first.
To adjust the cutting height, turn the height-of-cut lever located on the side of the mower deck. The deck height can be set between 1.5 to 5 inches in quarter-inch increments. Make sure the mower is on a flat surface when adjusting.
Check the PTO switch to ensure it's in the "ON" position. Inspect the belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Verify that the safety interlock system is functioning correctly, as it can prevent blade engagement if not properly set.
Use a hose with a spray nozzle to clean the underside of the deck. Avoid using high-pressure washers as they can damage components. For stubborn debris, gently scrape it off with a plastic scraper. Ensure the mower is off and cooled down before cleaning.
First, disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt and then the blade. Install the new blade and tighten the bolt to the manufacturer's specified torque. Reconnect the spark plug when finished.
Regularly maintain your mower by changing the oil, air filter, and spark plugs. Ensure the tire pressure is at the recommended level and the blades are sharp. Avoid mowing wet grass and try to mow during cooler parts of the day.
Check the blades for balance and damage. Inspect the drive belts for wear and ensure they are properly tensioned. Examine the tires for proper inflation and any signs of damage. Also, make sure all bolts and fasteners are tight.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Check all components for wear and replace if necessary. Store the mower in a dry, covered area to protect it from the elements.
