To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the motion control levers are in the neutral position. Turn the key to the start position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine is running.
Regular maintenance includes checking the engine oil level, cleaning the air filter, inspecting the blades for damage, checking tire pressure, and ensuring all nuts and bolts are properly tightened.
If the mower does not start, check the battery connections, ensure there is enough fuel, and verify that the spark plug is in good condition. Also, ensure that safety switches are not engaged.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or 10W-30 motor oil for the best performance in temperatures above 32°F. For colder temperatures, use 5W-30 oil.
To adjust the cutting height, stop the mower and disengage the blades. Use the height-of-cut lever located near the operator's seat to select the desired cutting height.
If the blades do not engage, check the PTO switch, ensure the drive belts are intact, and inspect the electrical connections to the PTO clutch.
Blades should be sharpened after every 25 hours of use or whenever you notice a decrease in cutting performance.
After use, allow the engine to cool before cleaning. Use a low-pressure hose to rinse off debris and grass clippings. Avoid high-pressure washing near the engine and electrical components.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance, use the recommended oil type, maintain sharp blades, and avoid mowing when the grass is wet.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, damaged bearings, or loose components. Inspect the blades for balance, check the spindle bearings, and ensure all hardware is tightened.
