To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the blades are disengaged, and the throttle is set to 'fast'. Turn the ignition key to the 'start' position. Release the key when the engine starts.
First, check the PTO switch and make sure it is in the 'on' position. Inspect the drive belt for damage or misalignment, and adjust or replace as necessary. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for oil type and viscosity.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired position. Refer to the height indicator to ensure the correct setting.
Verify that the battery is charged and connected properly. Check the fuel level and ensure there is no fuel line blockage. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it is even on all tires. Inspect the mower blades for sharpness and balance. Adjust the deck leveling if necessary.
Regularly inspect the deck belt for signs of wear or damage. Clean debris from the belt area and ensure proper tension. Replace the belt if it shows cracks or fraying.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, replacing air and fuel filters, sharpening blades, inspecting belts, and checking tire pressures. Consult the owner's manual for a detailed schedule.
To winterize, remove any grass clippings and debris, change the oil and filter, add a fuel stabilizer to the gasoline, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered area. Disconnect the battery and clean the terminals.
