To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is in the 'Off' position, and the motion control levers are in the neutral lock position. Turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position and release it once the engine starts.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil and filter every 100 hours, and inspecting the air filter every 25 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions. Additionally, check the blade, belts, and tire pressure regularly.
Uneven cutting can be caused by uneven tire pressure, dull or damaged blades, or an improperly leveled deck. Verify that the tire pressure is equal on all sides, sharpen or replace blades if necessary, and check the deck level as per the user manual.
If the mower won't start, ensure the battery is charged and connections are clean. Check that the fuel valve is open and that there is sufficient fuel. Verify that all safety switches are engaged and inspect the fuses for any issues.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height-of-cut lever located near the operator's position. Move the lever to the desired cutting height, which ranges from 1.0 to 5.5 inches, in increments specific to the model.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol as it can damage the engine and fuel system components.
After mowing, use a garden hose to wash off grass clippings from the deck. Ensure the mower is turned off and cool before cleaning. Avoid using high-pressure water, which can damage components.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, debris stuck in the deck, or damaged mower components. Check for debris, inspect the blades for balance and damage, and tighten any loose parts.
To replace a blade, ensure the mower is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Use a blade removal tool to secure the blade, then remove the bolt with a wrench. Replace the blade, ensuring it is correctly oriented, and tighten the bolt securely.
Uneven cutting may result from an imbalanced blade, uneven tire pressure, or an out-of-level deck. Check and inflate tires to the correct pressure, balance or replace the blade, and level the deck following the instructions in the manual.
