To perform routine maintenance, regularly check and replace the air filter, change the oil and oil filter, inspect the blades for sharpness, and clean the mower deck. Consult the user manual for specific intervals and procedures.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level, ensure the battery is charged, inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage, and verify that the safety interlock system is engaged properly.
Ensure the blades are sharp and balanced, adjust the cutting height appropriately, and mow at a steady pace without overloading the engine. Regularly clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup.
Excessive vibration may be caused by uneven or damaged blades. Check and balance the blades, inspect the drive belts for wear, and ensure all bolts and connections are tightened securely.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it's even on all tires, inspect the blades for sharpness and damage, and verify that the deck is level. Adjust the deck height as needed for an even cut.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for optimal performance in most conditions. Refer to the user manual for recommendations specific to your operating environment and temperature range.
Check the air filter and replace if necessary, ensure the fuel is fresh and the fuel filter is clean, inspect the spark plugs, and examine the exhaust for blockages.
Inspect the PTO switch and connections, check the drive belts for wear or damage, and ensure the battery is fully charged. Replace any faulty components as needed.
Sharpen the blades at least once at the start of the mowing season and as needed throughout, typically after every 20-25 hours of use, depending on the terrain and grass type.
To winterize, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
