To start the Toro XL 440H, ensure the mower is on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, set the throttle to 'fast', and turn the ignition key to the 'start' position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, add new oil to the fill port, and check the oil level with the dipstick.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected and in good condition, and verify that the air filter is clean. Also, make sure the safety features, such as the parking brake and blade control, are properly engaged.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the lever on each wheel and move it to the desired position. Ensure all four levers are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug, sharpening the blades, and checking tire pressure. Refer to the owner's manual for a detailed schedule.
Ensure the mower deck is level, the blades are sharp, and the tire pressure is even. Check for any obstructions in the discharge chute and ensure the grass is dry before mowing.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, lift the mower deck to its highest position, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolt. Replace with a new blade, ensuring it is installed in the correct orientation, and tighten the bolt securely.
Check for damaged or unbalanced blades, loose bolts, and debris caught in the mower deck. Tighten any loose parts and replace damaged components as needed.
Clean the mower thoroughly, remove any grass clippings and debris, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Store in a dry, sheltered area and disconnect the battery if applicable.
