To start the Toro Whirlwind 20-inch 23317 Mower, first ensure it has enough fuel and oil. Press the primer bulb three times if the engine is cold. Pull the starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance in temperatures above 40°F. If operating in colder conditions, you may use SAE 5W-30.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once per mowing season or after every 25 hours of use to maintain a clean cut and ensure lawn health.
Check that there is sufficient fuel and the fuel valve is open. Ensure the spark plug is connected and clean. Inspect the air filter for clogs and clean or replace it as necessary.
After each use, remove grass clippings from the mower deck with a brush or cloth. Use a garden hose to rinse off any remaining debris, but avoid spraying water directly on the engine.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height.
Excessive vibration can be due to a damaged blade or loose parts. Inspect the blade for damage and ensure all nuts and bolts are tightened properly.
Regularly clean or replace the air filter, keep the blade sharp, and use the recommended oil to maintain engine efficiency. Avoid mowing wet grass to reduce engine strain.
Before storage, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Cover it to prevent dust accumulation.
Check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure the drive control cable is properly connected and adjusted.
