To start the Toro Whirlwind 20-inch 23016 mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, and the oil is at the correct level. Pull the safety lever towards the handle, then pull the starter rope firmly.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours or at the beginning of each mowing season.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for clogs. Additionally, verify that the safety lever is engaged.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug wire, then use a hose to rinse off grass clippings. For a thorough clean, scrape off any stubborn debris with a plastic scraper.
To sharpen the blades, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the blade, and use a file or a blade sharpener. Ensure the blade is balanced before reinstallation.
Excessive vibration may be caused by unbalanced blades, loose components, or debris lodged in the mower. Check the blade balance and tighten any loose parts.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height.
Check the air filter every 25 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Clean or replace the filter if it is dirty or clogged.
It's not recommended to mow wet grass as it can cause clumping, uneven cuts, and may lead to the mower clogging. Wait until the grass is dry for optimal results.
