To start the Toro Wheel Horse XL 440H, ensure the transmission is in neutral, engage the parking brake, and turn the ignition key to the start position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for the Toro Wheel Horse XL 440H tractor. Ensure the oil meets API service classification SF, SG, SH, or higher.
Check the battery for charge and connections, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, ensure fuel is reaching the engine, and verify that the safety switches are functioning properly.
Perform oil changes every 50 hours of operation, replace the air filter annually, check the spark plug every 100 hours, and inspect the blades and belts regularly.
Ensure the blades are sharp and balanced, maintain proper tire pressure, and adjust the cutting height to suit the grass conditions.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, worn belts, or loose components. Inspect and replace as necessary to resolve the issue.
To change the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety, remove the mower deck, and follow the belt routing diagram to install a new belt. Ensure the belt is properly tensioned.
Check the PTO switch and fuse, inspect the deck belt for wear or damage, and ensure the deck is properly connected to the tractor.
Sharpen the blades at least once per mowing season, or more frequently if you notice a decline in cutting performance or encounter rocky or sandy conditions.
To winterize your tractor, clean the exterior, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, remove and store the battery, and cover the tractor to protect it from the elements.
