Toro Wheel Horse R5-42RY01 Operator's Manual

The recommended oil type for the Toro Wheel Horse R5-42RY01 mower is SAE 10W-30 for general use. Ensure the oil meets API service classification SJ or higher.
To change the mower blades, first disconnect the spark plug. Then, lift the mower deck using a jack, unscrew the blade bolts, remove the old blades, and install the new ones by securing them with the bolts. Ensure the blades are properly oriented and tightened.
If your mower is not starting, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and examine the air filter for blockages. Additionally, inspect the battery for charge and clean any corroded terminals.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 50 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season. This includes changing the oil, checking the spark plug, cleaning the air filter, and inspecting the blades.
If your mower is cutting unevenly, check if the deck is level, inspect the blades for wear or damage, and ensure the tire pressure is equal on both sides. Adjust the deck height if necessary.
To clean the deck, first ensure the mower is off and cool. Use a garden hose to spray off dirt and grass clippings. For stubborn debris, use a plastic scraper. Avoid using metal tools that could damage the deck.
It is recommended to use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. You may use ethanol blends up to 10% (E10). Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol, as it can cause engine damage.
To adjust the drive belt, first, ensure the mower is turned off. Locate the belt tensioner, loosen the adjustment bolt, and move the tensioner to adjust the belt tension. Tighten the bolt once the desired tension is achieved.
If the engine overheats, immediately turn off the mower and let it cool. Check for obstructions in the cooling fins, ensure the oil level is adequate, and verify the air filter is clean.
For winter storage, clean the mower thoroughly, drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder, then replace the spark plug. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered place.
