To start the Toro Wheel Horse 78300 Mower, ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to the 'Start' position, and turn the ignition key to start the engine.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is functioning, and verify the battery is charged. Additionally, ensure the parking brake is engaged and the blade is disengaged.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the oil drain plug under the mower and let the oil drain into a pan. Replace the plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always check the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers near each wheel and move them to the desired position. Make sure all levers are set to the same height for an even cut.
Ensure that the deck is level and the blades are sharp. Check tire pressure and adjust if necessary. Verify that all height adjustment levers are set equally.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once per mowing season or more frequently if the grass appears torn or the mower is used extensively.
To replace the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug, remove the mowing deck, and release the tension on the belt. Install the new belt following the routing diagram in the owner's manual, then reassemble the deck.
Excessive vibration can be due to unbalanced or damaged blades, loose parts, or worn pulleys. Inspect and balance the blades, tighten any loose components, and replace any worn parts.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking and changing the oil, inspecting and cleaning the air filter, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck.
