The recommended oil type for the Toro Wheel Horse 71197 Tractor is SAE 30 for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). The oil capacity is approximately 1.6 quarts (1.5 liters).
First, check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that the battery is fully charged. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Finally, check the fuel system for blockages or stale fuel.
To change the mower deck belt, first lower the deck to its lowest position. Remove the belt covers and release the belt tension by loosening the idler pulley. Remove the old belt and install the new one, following the same path. Re-tension the belt and replace the covers.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each season. This includes checking the oil, air filter, spark plugs, and inspecting the belts and blades.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tires is 12 PSI, and for the rear tires, it is 10 PSI. Always use a reliable tire gauge to ensure proper inflation.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, which ranges from 1.5 to 4 inches. Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface for accurate adjustment.
Excessive vibration could be due to an unbalanced blade or debris caught in the mower deck. Inspect the blades for damage and sharpen or replace them if necessary. Clean the mower deck thoroughly and check for any loose parts.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure the air filter and spark plugs are clean and in good condition. Use the recommended grade of gasoline and maintain proper tire pressure. Regular maintenance and avoiding overloading can also contribute to better fuel efficiency.
Before storing, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and remove any debris. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
To replace the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Check the gap on the new plug, install it by hand initially, then tighten with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
