Toro Wheel Horse 71180 Operator's Manual

To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, which helps the oil drain out smoothly. Turn off the engine and remove the key. Place an oil pan under the drain plug, remove the plug, and let the oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug, then remove the oil filter using an oil filter wrench. Install a new oil filter and add fresh oil according to the specifications in the owner's manual.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content, as it can cause engine damage and affect performance.
The air filter should be checked before each use and cleaned every 25 hours of operation. Replace the air filter annually or more frequently if operating in dusty conditions.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel tank has fuel and the fuel shut-off valve is open. Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace it if necessary. Ensure that the PTO switch is off and the parking brake is engaged.
To sharpen the blades, first disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Tilt the mower deck to access the blades and remove them using a wrench. Secure the blade in a vice and sharpen the cutting edge with a file or grinder, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling it.
Perform regular maintenance, including checking and changing the oil every 50 hours, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours, checking tire pressure regularly, and inspecting belts and blades for wear. Refer to the owner's manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
Uneven cutting may be caused by dull blades, improper tire pressure, or an uneven mower deck. Check and sharpen the blades if necessary, ensure all tires are inflated to the correct pressure, and adjust the mower deck for levelness.
To store the tractor for winter, clean the mower deck and remove grass and debris. Change the engine oil and add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Excessive vibration may be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades. Check the blades for damage and ensure they are properly balanced. Also, inspect the pulleys and belts for wear or damage and replace them if necessary.
Adjust the mowing height by using the height adjustment lever located on the mower deck. Refer to the operator's manual for the correct procedure and ensure the mower is on a level surface before making adjustments.
