To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to choke. Turn the ignition key to start the engine. Once it's running, adjust the throttle to the desired speed.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, inspecting the air filter, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the deck. Refer to the manual for specific intervals.
If the mower doesn't start, check the battery charge, ensure the fuel tank has fresh gas, verify the spark plug condition, and make sure the safety switches are engaged.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for the engine. It's important to check the oil level before each use and change it according to the manufacturer's schedule.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck and move it to the desired position. Ensure the mower is on a flat surface when making adjustments.
If the blades are not engaging, check the PTO switch and belt condition. Ensure the switch is operational and the belt is intact and properly tensioned.
To store the mower for winter, clean the deck, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and debris.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, debris on the deck, or loose components. Inspect the blades for damage, clean the deck, and tighten any loose parts.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, install the new plug, and reattach the wire. Ensure the new plug is gapped correctly.
If the mower cuts unevenly, check the tire pressure, level the deck, and ensure the blades are sharp and properly installed. Uneven terrain can also affect cutting performance.
