To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to the choke position. Turn the ignition key to the start position and release it once the engine starts.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Check the oil level regularly and change it after every 25 hours of operation.
Uneven cutting can be caused by a dull blade, incorrect tire pressure, or an improperly leveled deck. Sharpen the blade, ensure all tires are equally inflated, and adjust the mower deck as necessary.
Perform routine maintenance every 25 hours, including checking and changing the oil, inspecting the air filter, and sharpening the blades. After 100 hours, check the spark plugs and replace them if necessary.
To replace the blade, disconnect the spark plug wire, tilt the mower to access the blade, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolt. Install the new blade and ensure it is securely tightened. Reconnect the spark plug wire before use.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is functional, and verify that the air filter is clean. Additionally, make sure the battery is charged and connections are secure.
To adjust the mower deck, park on a level surface and raise the deck to its highest position. Use a wrench to adjust the deck leveling bolts until the deck is parallel to the ground. Check that both sides are even.
To prevent clogging, mow when the grass is dry, avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height at a time, and ensure the mower deck is clean and blades are sharp.
Excessive vibration may be due to an unbalanced or damaged blade, loose components, or debris lodged in the deck. Inspect and balance the blade, tighten any loose parts, and clear any debris.
To winterize the mower, remove any fuel from the tank, change the oil, clean the mower deck, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered area. Consider removing the battery and storing it separately in a cool, dry place.
