To change the oil, first warm up the engine, then turn it off and remove the key. Place a pan under the drain plug, remove the plug, and let the oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug and fill the engine with the recommended oil type and amount.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Check the battery for charge and connections, ensure the fuel is fresh, inspect the spark plug and replace if necessary, and make sure the air filter is clean.
Perform regular maintenance every 50 hours of operation or annually, including oil change, air filter cleaning, spark plug inspection, and checking tire pressure.
Remove the mower deck, secure the blades, and use a grinder or file to sharpen them. Ensure the blades are balanced before reinstalling them.
Stop the tractor and let it cool down. Check the cooling fins for debris, ensure the engine oil level is adequate, and verify proper belt tension.
Remove the mower deck, release the tension on the belt, and slide the old belt off the pulleys. Install the new belt following the belt routing diagram, and re-tension it.
Inspect the blades for sharpness, check the deck level, ensure the tire pressure is correct, and verify that the engine is running at full throttle.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, charge the battery, and store it in a dry location. Consider removing the battery for storage in a warm place.
Common signs include difficulty starting the engine, dimming headlights, and a slow cranking engine. Check the battery voltage and connections.
