To change the oil, first run the engine to warm it up. Turn off the engine and remove the key. Position an oil pan under the engine, remove the drain plug, and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, fill the engine with new oil, and check the oil level with the dipstick.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel tank has fuel and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. Ensure the PTO is disengaged and that the transmission is in neutral.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it is even on all tires. Inspect the mower deck for levelness and adjust if needed. Sharpen or replace the mower blades if they are dull or damaged. Clean any debris from under the deck.
Perform an oil change every 50 hours of operation or annually. Check the air filter every 25 hours and replace if necessary. Lubricate the chassis every 25 hours. Inspect the belts and replace them if they show signs of wear. Clean the battery terminals regularly.
To adjust the mower deck height, locate the deck height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring it locks into place. You can verify the deck height by measuring from the blade tip to the ground on a flat surface.
Check the transmission fluid level and top up if necessary. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if needed. Ensure that the transmission pulley and idler pulleys are free of debris and rotate smoothly.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, removing any grass and debris. Change the oil and run the engine to circulate the fresh oil. Add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank and run the engine to ensure it circulates. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Inspect the mower blades for balance and damage. Check that the blades are properly installed and torqued. Ensure the engine mounting bolts are tight. Examine the drive belt for wear or misalignment.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old spark plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug with a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary. Install the new spark plug by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the socket. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Check the fuse for the headlights and replace it if it is blown. Inspect the headlight bulbs and replace them if they are burnt out. Ensure that all wiring connections are secure and free of corrosion.
