Ensure the tractor is in neutral, engage the parking brake, insert the key into the ignition, and turn it clockwise to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F and SAE 5W-30 for colder conditions.
Check the battery connections, ensure there's fuel in the tank, inspect the spark plug for damage, and verify that the fuel shut-off valve is open.
Warm up the engine, place a pan under the oil drain plug, remove the plug, allow the oil to drain completely, replace the plug, and refill with new oil.
Perform maintenance every 50 hours of operation or at least once per season, including oil changes, air filter cleaning, and belt inspections.
Check the blade for sharpness, ensure the deck is level, and inspect the belt tension for consistency.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, set the gap on the new plug, and install it by hand before tightening with the wrench.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose parts, or worn bearings. Inspect and address these components to resolve the issue.
To adjust the drive belt tension, locate the tensioning bracket, loosen the mounting bolts, adjust the bracket to the desired tension, and retighten the bolts.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, avoid operating on steep slopes, keep children and pets at a safe distance, and ensure all safety guards are in place.
