To start the Toro Walk-Behind 58610 Edger, ensure the fuel tank is filled, then set the throttle to the 'Start' position. Pull the starter handle gently until you feel resistance, then pull sharply to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gas with more than 10% ethanol.
Adjust the cutting depth by using the depth control lever located near the blade guard. Move the lever to the desired depth setting.
Check the spark plug for wear or damage, ensure the fuel is fresh, and inspect the air filter for clogs. Replace parts as necessary.
Sharpen the blade every 25 hours of use or replace it if it is damaged or excessively worn.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil fill cap and drain plug, allowing the old oil to drain completely. Replace the plug and refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the spark plug annually, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours, and changing the oil every 50 hours of operation.
Ensure the blade is balanced and securely attached. Check for debris around the blade area and remove any obstruction. Tighten any loose bolts or screws.
Check that the blade is sharp and not damaged. Ensure the wheels are set to the proper height, and adjust the cutting depth if necessary.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation. Clean the edger thoroughly and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starts.
