Ensure the fuel valve is open, the engine switch is on, and the blade control lever is disengaged. Pull the recoil starter handle briskly to start the engine.
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Verify the spark plug connection and inspect it for fouling. Also, make sure the air filter is clean and the engine switch is on.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening the blade every 50 hours. Regularly inspect and clean the underside of the mower deck.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and move them to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for even cutting.
Excessive vibration may be due to an unbalanced blade or debris caught under the deck. Inspect the blade for damage and balance and remove any debris from the mower deck.
The spark plug should be inspected every 25 hours of use and replaced every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first, to ensure optimal engine performance.
Use SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 detergent oil that meets the API service classification SJ or higher for optimal performance.
After sharpening the blade, use a blade balancer to check for balance. If one side is heavier, grind some metal off until the blade is balanced evenly.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, and store it in a dry, sheltered location to prevent rust and deterioration.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it by gently tapping or washing it with soapy water if it's a foam filter. Ensure it is completely dry before reinstalling.
