To start the mower, ensure that the fuel valve is open, the throttle is in the 'choke' position, and the blade control bar is disengaged. Pull the recoil starter handle briskly to start the engine. Once started, move the throttle to the 'fast' position.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Make sure the air filter is clean and unobstructed. Also, ensure the engine oil level is correct.
Regularly sharpen the mower blades and ensure they are balanced. Adjust the cutting height according to the grass length and type. Clean the deck to prevent grass buildup, which can impact performance.
Routinely check and change the engine oil, clean or replace the air filter, inspect the spark plug, and sharpen or replace the mower blades. Ensure all nuts and bolts are tight and check the drive belts for wear.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil fill cap and drain the oil by tipping the mower onto its side or using the oil drain plug if available. Refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
Excessive vibration might be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Remove the blade and check for damage or uneven wear. Sharpen and balance the blade or replace it if necessary. Also, inspect the mower deck for any obstructions.
Ensure the blade is sharp and properly installed. Check that the wheels are set at the same height and the mower deck is level. Inspect for any debris buildup under the deck that may affect cutting performance.
Clean the mower thoroughly to remove grass and debris. Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, and remove the spark plug. Store the mower in a dry, covered area.
Sharpen the blades at least once per mowing season, or more frequently if the mower is used often or on rough terrain. Dull blades can tear grass instead of cutting it, leading to poor lawn health.
Check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the drive cable is properly adjusted and not broken. Inspect the drive wheels for any obstructions or wear that may prevent traction.
