To change the oil, first warm up the engine to ensure the oil flows out smoothly. Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Place an oil pan beneath the mower and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the oil to drain completely, then replace the plug. Refill with the recommended oil type and check the level using the dipstick.
Regularly check the mower blades for sharpness and damage. Sharpen the blades every 20-25 hours of use or when you notice a decrease in cutting performance. Ensure the blades are balanced to prevent vibration and extend the life of the mower.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Verify that the spark plug is not fouled or damaged. Inspect the air filter for clogs and clean or replace if necessary. Also, ensure the battery is charged (if applicable) and that all safety switches are engaged.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% as they can damage the engine. Always use fresh fuel to ensure smooth operation.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers located near each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
If the engine overheats, turn off the mower immediately and let it cool down. Check for obstructions around the cooling fins and ensure the engine is not overworked. Verify oil levels and consider changing it if it's old or dirty.
The air filter should be checked every 25 hours of use or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace the air filter if it appears dirty or damaged to ensure optimal engine performance.
For off-season storage, clean the mower thoroughly to remove grass and debris. Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent clogs. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
To replace the drive belt, first disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the deck cover and any guards obstructing access to the belt. Loosen the tensioner pulley and remove the old belt. Install the new belt, ensuring it is properly seated on all pulleys, and retighten the tensioner.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, including eye and ear protection. Ensure the area is clear of bystanders and debris before mowing. Avoid mowing on wet or slippery surfaces and never bypass safety features.
