To change the oil, first run the mower for a few minutes to warm up the oil, which helps it drain better. Then, turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug wire. Position a pan under the oil drain plug, remove the plug, and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug, remove the oil filter, and install a new filter. Finally, refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is connected and in good condition, and verify that the battery is charged. Additionally, inspect the air filter for clogs and make sure the safety features, like the parking brake, are engaged.
Blades should be sharpened every 25 hours of use or whenever you notice a decrease in cutting performance. Always ensure the mower is off and the blades are completely still before attempting to sharpen them.
The Toro Titan ZX4800 74861 mower is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% as they can damage the engine.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired position, which will raise or lower the deck accordingly. Make sure the mower is off and on a flat surface before making adjustments.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose engine mounting bolts, or debris caught in the deck. Inspect the blades for damage or wear and ensure all bolts and screws are tightened properly. Remove any debris from the deck to reduce vibration.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. If it's a paper filter, tap it gently to remove debris, or replace it if it's too dirty. For foam filters, wash with mild detergent and water, let it dry completely, and lightly oil before reinstalling.
Perform regular maintenance including checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 50 hours, inspecting the blades every 25 hours, and cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours. Additionally, check the tire pressure and battery connections monthly.
Before storing, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Keep the mower in a dry, sheltered location to protect it from the elements.
Inspect the deck belt for wear or damage and ensure the tension is correct. Check the belt pulleys for alignment and debris. If the belt is worn or damaged, replace it. Make sure the belt is routed correctly according to the diagram in the user manual.
