To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Place an oil pan under the mower, remove the oil drain plug, and allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity as specified in your user manual.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
First, check that there is enough fuel in the tank and that the fuel valve is open. Ensure the battery is charged and connections are tight. Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the safety features are not engaged (e.g., parking brake on, blades disengaged).
Blades should be sharpened after approximately 20-25 hours of use or if you notice a decrease in cutting performance. Regular inspection of the blades for damage and wear is recommended.
The recommended tire pressure is typically listed in the user manual. Ensure to check for both front and rear tire specifications, and use a tire gauge to maintain the correct pressure for optimal performance.
Ensure the mower is off and cool. Use a garden hose with a spray nozzle to clean the underside of the deck. Avoid high-pressure washers to prevent damage. For stubborn debris, use a plastic scraper. Regular cleaning after each use is recommended.
Stop the mower and allow the engine to cool. Check for debris blocking the air intake or cooling fins. Ensure the oil level is correct and the oil is clean. Resume operation once the engine has cooled and the issue is resolved.
Ensure blades are sharp and balanced. Set the correct cutting height for the grass type and conditions. Mow at the appropriate speed, avoiding excessive speed which can reduce cutting quality. Regular maintenance of the mower and deck cleaning will also enhance performance.
At the end of the season, clean the mower thoroughly, inspect and sharpen blades, change the oil, and check the air filter. Add fuel stabilizer to the tank or run the engine until it is out of fuel. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
To adjust the tracking, ensure the mower is on a level surface. Adjust the tension bolts on the drive control linkages to correct any left or right pulling. Test the mower after adjustments and repeat if necessary to achieve straight tracking.
