Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the throttle is set to a mid-to-high position. Turn the ignition key to start the mower.
Toro recommends using SAE 10W-30 oil for optimal performance in most climates.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank is not empty, inspect the spark plug for wear, and make sure the safety handles are fully engaged.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil, cleaning the air filter, sharpening the blades, and inspecting the belts for wear.
Use the cutting height adjustment lever located on the side of the mower deck to set the desired height.
Check if the blades are dull or damaged, ensure they are installed correctly, and verify that the cutting height is set appropriately.
Adjust the tire pressure for even contact, slow down while mowing, and consider using a lower cutting height for better traction.
Check for debris lodged in the deck, inspect the blades for balance, and ensure all mounting hardware is tight.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, and store it in a dry, sheltered area.
Check the engine cooling fins for clogs, ensure the oil level is correct, and verify that the air intake is not obstructed.
