To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Place a pan under the drain plug, remove the plug, and let the oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug, fill with new oil up to the full mark on the dipstick, and reconnect the spark plug.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline. Check the battery connections and charge if necessary. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if needed. Make sure the blade control is disengaged and the parking brake is set before starting.
At the start of the season, change the oil, replace the air filter, inspect and sharpen the blades, check tire pressure, clean the mower deck, and ensure all bolts and screws are tight.
To adjust the cutting height, move the deck lift lever to the desired position. The mower has multiple cutting height options that range from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
Uncut patches may be due to dull blades, uneven tire pressure, or the mower deck being out of level. Sharpen the blades, check tire pressure, and adjust the deck height to ensure it is level.
To replace the blades, disconnect the spark plug, lift the mower safely, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolt. Remove the old blade and install the new one, ensuring the cutting edges face the right direction. Tighten the bolt securely before lowering the mower.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades, loose bolts, or debris stuck in the deck. Check and balance the blades, tighten all bolts, and clean the deck to remove any debris.
To clean the mower deck, first ensure the engine is off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris. For stubborn buildup, use a brush or scraper. Dry the deck thoroughly to prevent rust.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil every 50 hours of use, replacing the air filter annually or as needed, checking and charging the battery, and inspecting the blades for damage. Lubricate moving parts and check tire pressure monthly.
