To change the oil, run the mower for a few minutes to warm up the oil, then stop the engine and remove the key. Place a pan under the drain valve, open the valve, and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain cap and refill with new oil as per the specifications in the owner's manual.
Use SAE 10W-30 or SAE 30 motor oil that meets API service classification SJ or higher. Always check the owner’s manual for any updates or specific recommendations.
If the mower won't start, check the following: ensure the battery is charged, the fuel tank has fresh gasoline, the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and the air filter is not clogged. Also, verify that the safety interlocks are engaged.
To adjust the cutting height, park the mower on a level surface and disengage the blades. Use the height adjustment lever located on the side of the mower to set the desired cutting height. Ensure both sides are set to the same level for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a few issues: check for debris lodged in the blades, ensure the blades are balanced and not damaged, and inspect the engine mounts for wear or damage. Tighten any loose bolts and nuts.
Regularly inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Sharpen or replace blades as needed. Always disconnect the spark plug before servicing the blades to prevent accidental start-up.
After each use, remove grass clippings and debris from the mower deck using a brush or compressed air. For a more thorough cleaning, use a garden hose to rinse the deck, ensuring that water does not enter the engine or electrical components.
The air filter should be checked before each use and cleaned or replaced every 25 operating hours or more frequently in dusty conditions. Always use a genuine Toro replacement filter for best performance.
To winterize your mower, clean the mower deck and engine, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, and remove the battery. Store the battery in a cool, dry place and charge it periodically. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
To improve fuel efficiency, keep the engine properly tuned, maintain clean air and fuel filters, ensure the blades are sharp, and operate the mower at the recommended speed. Avoid mowing wet grass to reduce engine strain.
