To start the Toro TimeCutter SS 5000, ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to “fast”, and turn the ignition key to the “start” position. Release the key once the engine starts.
If the mower is not cutting evenly, check if the blades are dull or damaged and sharpen or replace them as needed. Also, ensure the deck is level and clean from debris.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours or once a season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil for best performance.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on the mower deck. Move the lever to the desired cutting height setting, which ranges from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
Ensure the battery is fully charged, the fuel is fresh, and the air filter is clean. Check the spark plug for wear and replace it if necessary.
Regularly inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Sharpen the blades every 20-25 hours of use, or replace them if they are excessively worn or damaged.
For end-of-season storage, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer. Store the mower in a dry, protected area, and disconnect the battery.
If the engine is smoking, check for oil leaks and ensure the oil level is correct. Inspect the air filter for dirt or blockage and clean or replace it if necessary.
Follow the maintenance schedule in the user manual, which includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 50 hours, inspecting the blades, and lubricating moving parts regularly.
