To start the Toro TimeCutter SS 4225, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the control levers are in the neutral position. Insert the key and turn it to the 'Start' position. Release the key once the engine starts.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and every 50 hours thereafter or at least once per mowing season.
Uneven cutting may be due to a misadjusted deck level, dull blades, or tire pressure imbalance. Ensure the deck is level, blades are sharp, and tires are inflated to the recommended pressure.
To clean the mower deck, use the washout port by attaching a garden hose, running the mower blades for a few minutes to dislodge debris, and then turn off the mower and remove any remaining grass manually.
If the engine does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, verify the battery charge, and ensure the safety features are engaged.
To replace the blades, disconnect the spark plug, lift the mower deck, remove the blade bolt, replace the blade, and securely tighten the bolt before lowering the deck and reconnecting the spark plug.
For off-season storage, clean the mower, perform maintenance like oil change and blade sharpening, add a fuel stabilizer, and store it in a dry, sheltered location.
Check for loose components, damaged blades, or debris lodged under the deck. Tighten any loose bolts, replace damaged parts, and clear debris to reduce vibration.
The hydrostatic transmission generally requires minimal maintenance, but check for leaks and ensure the fluid levels are adequate. Refer to the manual for specific service intervals.
Adjust the cutting height by using the deck lift lever located on the right side of the mower. Move the lever to the desired height position, from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
