To adjust the cutting height, use the height-of-cut lever located on the right side of the mower. Move the lever to the desired position to set the cutting height from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel tank has fresh gasoline and the fuel valve is open. Also, check the fuse and the spark plug for any issues.
Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 hours or at the start of each mowing season, whichever comes first.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the mower is turned off and the engine is cool. Use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris. Avoid using high-pressure water, which can damage components.
Check the mower deck belt for wear or damage. Ensure the PTO (Power Take-Off) switch is in the 'on' position. Inspect the blade engagement cable for proper tension and adjust if necessary.
Regular maintenance such as changing the air filter, maintaining the correct tire pressure, and ensuring blades are sharp can improve fuel efficiency. Also, avoid mowing wet grass to reduce engine load.
For winter storage, add a fuel stabilizer to the tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it. Change the oil and remove the battery, storing it in a cool, dry place. Clean the mower thoroughly and store it in a dry location.
Check for a bent or damaged blade and replace it if necessary. Ensure tire pressure is even on all wheels. Also, verify that the mower deck is level and adjust if needed.
To replace the mower blade, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolt, and replace the blade with a new one, ensuring it is oriented correctly. Tighten the bolt securely before reconnecting the spark plug wire.
Regularly check the battery terminals for corrosion and clean them as needed. Ensure the battery is charged, especially before storage. In cold climates, remove the battery and store it in a warm place to prolong its life.
