Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to 'fast', and turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil every 50 hours, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening the blades annually.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline, verify the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and make sure the air filter is not clogged.
Use SAE 10W-30 or SAE 30 motor oil that meets or exceeds API service classification SJ, SL, SM, or SN.
Use the deck lift lever located next to the seat to set the mower deck to the desired height. There are multiple settings to choose from for different grass lengths.
Check if the blades are sharp and balanced. Also, ensure that the deck is level by adjusting the deck leveling screws.
After use, allow the mower to cool, then use a hose with a spray nozzle to clean the deck and remove grass clippings. Avoid using high pressure to prevent damage.
Regularly maintain the mower, including changing the oil, air filter, and spark plug as needed. Keeping the blades sharp and driving at moderate speeds can also help.
Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance, check the deck belt for wear, and ensure all bolts and screws are tightened properly.
Ensure the mower is off and the key is removed. Lift the mower deck, use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, and replace the blades. Securely tighten the bolts after installation.
