To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the motion control levers are in neutral. Then, turn the ignition key to the start position and release it once the engine starts.
Regular maintenance includes checking the engine oil before each use, inspecting the air filter every 25 hours, sharpening the blades every 25 hours, and changing the engine oil and filter every 100 hours. Refer to the manual for a comprehensive schedule.
If the mower does not start, check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank is filled, inspect the spark plug for wear, and verify that the safety switches are engaged properly.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height-of-cut lever located on the right side of the mower. Move the lever to the desired cutting position, which ranges from 1.5 to 4.5 inches.
If the blades are not engaging, check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the "on" position. Inspect the belt for damage and confirm that the safety interlock system is functioning properly.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then shut it off. Remove the oil drain cap, allow the oil to drain completely, replace the cap, and refill with new oil as specified in the manual.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 and up to 10% ethanol. Avoid using gasoline with methanol or gasoline additives that contain metal.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and gently tap it to remove dirt. If extremely dirty, replace it. Reinstall the filter and secure the cover.
If the mower vibrates excessively, inspect the blades for damage or imbalance, check for loose hardware, and ensure the engine mounting bolts are tight.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly maintain the mower including air filter and spark plug checks, ensure the tires are properly inflated, and operate the mower at recommended speed settings.
