To start the mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the blades are disengaged, and the throttle is in the 'fast' position. Then, turn the ignition key to the 'start' position and release it once the engine starts.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline, and inspect the spark plug for wear or damage. Also, make sure the safety interlocks are properly engaged.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 hours of operation or once per mowing season, whichever comes first.
Toro recommends using SAE 10W-30 or SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For colder temperatures, use SAE 5W-30.
Regularly inspect the blades for damage and sharpness. Sharpen or replace blades as needed, and ensure they are balanced to avoid vibrations.
To winterize, clean the mower, change the oil, remove the battery, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. Store in a dry, sheltered area.
Adjust the cutting height by using the deck lift lever located on the right side of the operator's seat. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position.
Check and adjust the tire pressure, ensure the deck is level, and inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Make adjustments as needed.
Inspect the air filter and clean or replace it if dirty. Check the oil level and quality, and ensure the fuel is fresh. Also, examine the spark plug condition.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly maintain the engine, keep the blades sharp, avoid overloading the mower, and operate at optimal speed settings.
