To start the Toro TimeCutter 42-inch 75746, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is in the 'off' position, and the motion control levers are in the neutral position. Insert the key and turn it to the 'start' position. Once the engine starts, release the key.
Perform regular maintenance including checking and replacing the oil every 50 hours, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening the blades every 25 hours or as needed. Always refer to the user manual for detailed maintenance intervals.
If the mower doesn't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline, and verify that the spark plug is in good condition. Additionally, ensure all safety switches are engaged.
If the blades are not engaging, check the PTO switch to ensure it is in the 'on' position. Inspect the drive belt for any signs of wear or damage and replace if necessary.
To improve cutting performance, regularly sharpen the mower blades, adjust the cutting height according to grass conditions, and ensure the underside of the deck is clean. Proper tire inflation can also affect cutting quality.
Excessive vibration may be due to unbalanced or damaged blades. Check the blades for bends or damage and balance them if necessary. Also, inspect the deck pulleys and belt for wear.
To adjust the cutting height, stop the mower, disengage the blades, and use the height adjustment lever located on the mower's side. Choose the desired cutting height while the mower is on a flat surface.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always verify with the engine manufacturer's recommendations in the user manual.
To winterize the mower, clean the deck and engine area, add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, run the engine for a few minutes, change the oil, and store the mower in a dry place. Disconnect the battery to prevent discharge.
Uneven cutting may be due to uneven tire pressure, a bent blade, or an improperly leveled deck. Check and adjust the tire pressure, inspect and replace damaged blades, and ensure the deck is level.
