Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Sit on the seat, set the parking brake, and ensure the blades are disengaged. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'Start' position while pulling the choke lever if the engine is cold. Release the key once the engine starts.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify that the battery is charged and connections are tight. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Confirm that the seat switch and parking brake are properly engaged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil for best performance.
Locate the height adjustment lever on the mower's right side. Move the lever to select the desired cutting height, which ranges from 1.5 to 4.5 inches. Ensure the mower is off and the blades are not spinning when adjusting the height.
Inspect the blades for damage and sharpness every 25 hours of use. Sharpen or replace blades as needed to ensure a clean cut. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing maintenance on the blades.
Check if the tire pressure is equal on all sides and adjust if necessary. Ensure the deck is level by measuring from the ground to the bottom of the deck on both sides. Inspect blades for sharpness and damage, and replace if needed.
Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance and replace if necessary. Check for loose bolts or components on the mower deck and engine. Ensure the engine and deck belts are properly aligned and tensioned.
After each use, use a garden hose to spray under the deck to remove clippings and debris. For stubborn buildup, gently scrape with a plastic scraper. Ensure the mower is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected before cleaning.
Check for clogged air filters and clean or replace them if necessary. Inspect the fuel lines and filter for blockages. Ensure the spark plug is in good condition and the correct fuel mixture is used.
Regular maintenance such as changing the oil, replacing the air filter, and keeping the blades sharp can improve efficiency. Mow at the proper speed and avoid cutting wet grass to reduce strain on the engine.
