To start the Toro T1200 62012 generator, first ensure that the fuel valve is open and the choke is in the 'Start' position. Turn the engine switch to 'On' and pull the recoil starter handle smoothly. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the 'Run' position.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10%, as they can damage the engine components.
Change the oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 10W-30 oil for best performance.
If the generator won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the engine switch is 'On', and verify the choke is set correctly. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage, and ensure all safety switches are engaged.
To store the generator safely, drain the fuel tank and carburetor, change the oil, and disconnect the battery if applicable. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated area, covered to protect it from dust and debris.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, and checking fuel lines for leaks. Also, periodically run the generator to ensure it remains in good working order.
If the generator is not providing power, check the circuit breakers and reset if necessary. Ensure the load does not exceed the generator's capacity. Inspect all connections and cords for damage.
Avoid operating the generator in wet conditions to prevent electrocution. If necessary, use it under a canopy or shelter that provides ventilation and keeps it dry. Never touch the generator with wet hands.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. Replace if damaged.
To shut down the generator, first disconnect all electrical loads. Turn the engine switch to 'Off'. Close the fuel valve to prevent fuel leakage.
