To start the Toro SL500, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to 'Fast'. Turn the ignition key clockwise to start the engine.
For optimal performance, use SAE 10W-30 motor oil that meets API service classification SJ or higher.
Check the battery connections, ensure the fuel tank has gasoline, verify the spark plug connection, and make sure the safety switches are engaged.
Sharpen the mower blades after every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each mowing season.
The recommended tire pressure is 14 psi for the front tires and 10 psi for the rear tires.
To change the air filter, remove the air filter cover, take out the old filter, and replace it with a new one. Ensure the cover is securely fastened.
Check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the 'On' position. Also, inspect the deck belt for wear and proper tension.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the deck lift lever to the desired position, ranging from 1.5 to 4 inches.
At the end of the season, clean the mower, change the oil, stabilize the fuel, remove the battery, and store the tractor in a dry place.
To improve traction, ensure the tires are properly inflated, use wheel weights, and mow slopes up and down rather than across.
