To start the Toro SGR-6 22610 Stump Grinder, ensure the fuel valve is open. Set the choke to the closed position, then pull the starter handle briskly. Once the engine starts, move the choke to the open position gradually as the engine warms up.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting the spark plug, cleaning the air filter, and sharpening or replacing the cutting teeth as necessary. Always refer to the user manual for detailed maintenance schedules and procedures.
If the engine won't start, check for fuel and ensure the fuel valve is open. Verify the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Inspect the air filter for clogs and ensure the choke is in the correct position for starting.
Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles, gloves, and ear protection. Clear the area of debris and bystanders before starting. Operate the grinder on stable ground and follow all safety instructions in the user manual.
The cutting teeth should be inspected and sharpened after every 10 hours of use or sooner if performance decreases. Dull teeth can reduce efficiency and increase wear on the machine.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for the engine. Ensure the oil is suitable for the temperature range in which you will be operating the stump grinder. Check the oil level regularly and change it according to the maintenance schedule.
To transport the stump grinder, ensure the engine is off and cooled down. Secure the machine on a trailer or vehicle using appropriate straps. Ensure it is stable and cannot move during transit.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced cutting teeth or loose parts. Check the teeth for uneven wear and sharpen or replace them as needed. Inspect all bolts and nuts to ensure they are tight.
To replace the cutting teeth, first disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Use a wrench to remove the bolts securing the teeth. Replace with new teeth and tighten the bolts securely. Refer to the manual for the correct torque specifications.
Store the stump grinder in a dry, covered area. Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation. Clean the machine thoroughly to remove dirt and debris, and cover it to protect it from dust.
