To start the mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is correct. Pull the starter handle with a smooth, steady motion while holding the engine control bar against the handle.
The SmartStow feature allows the mower to be stored vertically, which saves space. Ensure the fuel cap is tight and the oil is stabilized, then carefully lift the front of the mower to stand it up.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and then annually or every 50 hours of operation, whichever comes first.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 detergent oil that meets the API service classification SJ or higher.
Ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a garden hose to rinse the undercarriage, avoiding excessive water on the engine. Allow to dry before storing.
Check if the blade is dull or damaged and sharpen or replace if necessary. Ensure the wheels are set at the same height and that the mower deck is clean from debris.
Raise the cutting height, mow more frequently, and mow only when grass is dry. Consider using the side discharge or bagging options instead of mulching.
Empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower, and store it in a dry location. Remember to remove the battery if applicable.
The mower has a lever on each wheel that can be adjusted to change the cutting height. Move the lever to the desired position to set the height.
Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if needed. Ensure the air filter is clean and the fuel is fresh. If issues persist, consult the manual or a professional technician.
