To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the self-propel drive bar is released, and the blade control bar is held against the handle. Pull the recoil starter handle lightly until you feel resistance, then pull it sharply to start the engine.
To store the mower vertically, ensure the fuel tank is less than half full to prevent spills. Engage the SmartStow lever, fold the handle forward, and tilt the mower up onto its rear wheels for compact storage.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify the spark plug is connected and in good condition. Ensure the air filter is clean and the blade control bar is engaged. If issues persist, consult the manual or a service professional.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once per mowing season or more frequently if the grass is tough or if you notice uneven cuts. Always disconnect the spark plug before performing maintenance.
Use SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 oil for optimal performance in varying temperatures. Check the oil level before each use and change it every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season.
Regularly clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup. Ensure the blade is sharp, and adjust the cutting height to match your lawn conditions. Mow when the grass is dry for a cleaner cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and balance it if necessary. If the issue persists, consult a repair professional.
To change the air filter, remove the cover, take out the old filter, and install a new one. Ensure the cover is securely fastened. Check the air filter annually or more often if used in dusty conditions.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the height adjustment levers on each wheel to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
After use, disconnect the spark plug wire, and use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings from the deck. Avoid getting water into the engine. Dry the mower thoroughly and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust.
