To start the Toro Recycler Rider 70044 mower, ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to 'fast', and turn the ignition key to the start position. Release the key once the engine starts.
If the mower blades do not engage, check to ensure the PTO (Power Take-Off) switch is in the 'on' position. Inspect the drive belt for any signs of wear or damage and replace if necessary. Also, ensure the battery is fully charged.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season. Always use the oil type specified in your owner's manual.
An uneven cut can be caused by a dull or damaged blade, incorrect tire pressure, or uneven deck height. Sharpen or replace the blade, check and adjust tire pressure, and ensure the deck is level.
To store the mower for winter, clean the deck and remove any grass clippings. Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, and remove the battery. Store the battery in a cool, dry place. Cover the mower to protect it from dust and debris.
For starting issues, check the fuel level, ensure the fuel is fresh, and inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary. Also, check the air filter for clogs and clean or replace it.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking and changing the oil, replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, sharpening the mower blades, and checking tire pressure. Grease all fittings and inspect belts for wear.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment lever located near the rear wheel. Move the lever to select the desired cutting height, ranging from 1 to 4 inches, depending on your lawn's needs.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade, loose engine mounting bolts, or worn belts. Check the blade for damage, ensure all bolts are tightened, and inspect the belts for signs of wear.
To replace the drive belt, first, ensure the mower is turned off and the key is removed. Disconnect the battery and remove the mower deck. Release the belt tension and remove the old belt from the pulleys. Install the new belt, following the same path as the old one, and reassemble the deck.
