To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open. Press the primer bulb three times if the engine is cold. Pull the starter handle firmly while holding the safety bar against the handle.
Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance in temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For colder conditions, SAE 10W-30 can be used.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once a season or after every 25 hours of use to ensure a clean cut and maintain lawn health.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Make sure the air filter is clean and not clogged.
Ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a hose or pressure washer to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck. Avoid getting water on the engine.
Empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower thoroughly, including the deck and blade. Store in a dry, sheltered location and cover it to protect from dust and moisture.
Move the height adjustment lever located near each wheel to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, and inspecting the spark plug.
Ensure the blade is sharp and the deck is clean. Mow when the grass is dry and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height in a single pass.
Check the blade for balance and damage. Tighten any loose parts and inspect the wheels. If the problem persists, consult the owner's manual or a professional technician.
