To start the mower, first ensure that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Set the throttle to the 'Fast' position, engage the safety handle, and pull the starter cord firmly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 10W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Always ensure the oil is suitable for 4-stroke engines.
Check if there is fuel in the tank and that the fuel is fresh. Verify the spark plug is not dirty or damaged. Ensure the air filter is clean and check the oil level. Also, make sure the safety handle is engaged.
The blades should be sharpened at least once a mowing season or more frequently if the grass is dense or if the mower is used heavily. Inspect the blades regularly for nicks or dullness.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil, clean the mower deck, inspect and clean or replace the air filter, and remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder before replacing it.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and move them to the desired setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check for debris or buildup under the mower deck. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance and ensure it is securely fastened. If the problem persists, it may require professional servicing.
To replace the air filter, remove the cover by unscrewing or unclipping it. Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one, ensuring it is seated properly, then secure the cover back in place.
It is not recommended to mow wet grass as it can lead to clogging, uneven cuts, and potential damage to the mower. Wait until the grass is dry for optimal performance.
Ensure the mower is turned off and disconnect the spark plug for safety. Use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris from the underside of the deck. For stubborn buildup, use a plastic scraper or brush.
