To start the Toro Recycler II 21-inch 20435 Mower, ensure that the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Pull the starter handle firmly while holding down the safety bar.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, spark plug connection, and ensure the air filter is clean. Additionally, inspect the fuel line for blockages and ensure the safety bar is engaged.
Blades should be sharpened at least once per mowing season or after every 25 hours of use to ensure optimal performance and a clean cut.
Use SAE 30 detergent oil with an API service classification of SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL, or higher for temperatures above 32°F. For colder conditions, use SAE 5W-30.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the mower is off and cool. Tilt the mower on its side with the air filter facing up, and use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris.
Perform the following maintenance: check oil before each use, clean air filter every 25 hours, replace spark plug annually, and sharpen blades as needed.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and set them to the desired position ranging from 1 to 4 inches. Ensure all wheels are set equally.
If the mower vibrates excessively, check for debris or damage to the blade and ensure it is properly balanced and tightened. Inspect the engine mounts and wheels for any damage.
To enhance mulching performance, ensure the blade is sharp, mow at a higher cutting height, and avoid mowing wet grass. Regularly clean the underside of the deck.
To winterize the mower, empty the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the air filter and spark plug, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered area. Consider removing the battery if applicable.
