To start the Toro Recycler II 21-inch 20431 Mower, ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Check that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Pull the starter handle firmly while holding down the safety bar.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Verify that the spark plug is connected and in good condition. Clean or replace the air filter if it's dirty.
For optimal performance, sharpen the blades after every 20-25 hours of use or at the start of each mowing season. Dull blades can tear grass, affecting lawn health.
Use SAE 30 oil for general use. In temperatures below 40°F, use SAE 5W-30 oil to ensure proper lubrication. Always check the oil level before each use.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Use a garden hose to rinse the mower deck to remove grass clippings and debris. Ensure the mower is dry before storing.
Check the drive belt for wear or damage. Inspect the cables and adjust the tension if necessary. Ensure the drive wheels are engaging properly.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Uncut grass can be due to dull blades, incorrect cutting height, or mowing too fast. Sharpen the blades, adjust the cutting height, and reduce mowing speed for better results.
To replace the air filter, locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine. Remove the cover, take out the old filter, and insert a new one. Reattach the cover securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blades, and inspecting the spark plug. Perform these checks at the start of each mowing season.
