Ensure the mower is on a flat surface, the fuel tank is filled, and the oil level is adequate. Pull the starter handle firmly while holding down the blade control bar.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C).
Ensure the blade is sharp, clean out the undercarriage to prevent grass build-up, and adjust the cutting height as necessary.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for blockages.
Sharpen the blade every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris after each use, ensuring the mower is turned off and cool.
Warm up the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off. Remove the oil fill cap, tilt the mower on its side, and drain the old oil into a container. Refill with new oil as specified in the manual.
Empty the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, sharpen the blade, and store in a dry place. Consider using a fuel stabilizer if fuel remains in the tank.
Move the cutting height levers, located on each wheel, to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Stop the mower and check for debris lodged in the blade or undercarriage. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance and tighten any loose parts.
