To start the Toro Recycler 55-cm 20958 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the spark plug wire is attached, and the engine stop lever is held against the handle. Pull the starter rope briskly to start the engine.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the fuel is fresh, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and ensure the air filter is clean. Additionally, make sure the safety key is properly inserted.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and then after every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Always use the recommended oil type as specified in the user manual.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a garden hose to spray underneath the deck, removing grass clippings and debris. For stubborn buildup, use a plastic scraper.
To adjust the cutting height, move the height adjustment lever located on each wheel to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged blade, loose hardware, or debris lodged in the mower. Inspect the blade for damage, tighten any loose bolts, and clear out debris from the deck.
To improve mulching performance, ensure the blade is sharp, mow when the grass is dry, and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height at a time. Consider installing a mulching blade if not already equipped.
To replace the air filter, remove the air filter cover by unscrewing it, take out the old filter, and insert a new one. Make sure the filter is seated properly before reattaching the cover.
If the mower is not cutting evenly, check the tire pressure, ensure the blade is sharp and balanced, and verify that the deck is level. Adjust the wheel height settings if necessary.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once per mowing season or after every 25 hours of use. Frequent sharpening is necessary if you mow in sandy or rocky conditions.
