To start the Toro Recycler 53-cm 22280 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'Choke' for a cold start, and the blade control bar is held against the handle. Pull the starter rope briskly.
For optimal performance, change the oil in your Toro 22280 mower after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30 oil.
If the Toro 22280 mower doesn't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, verify the air filter is clean, and make sure the blade control bar is engaged. If the problem persists, inspect the spark plug for wear.
Regularly inspect the mower blade for damage and sharpen it after every 25 hours of use. Replace the blade if it is cracked or excessively worn. Always disconnect the spark plug before performing any maintenance.
To adjust the cutting height, grasp the height adjustment lever located near each wheel and move it to the desired position. Make sure all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
If the Toro 22280 mower vibrates excessively, check for debris lodged in the blade or deck. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance and ensure all bolts are tight. Replace the blade if necessary.
After use, disconnect the spark plug, then use a garden hose to rinse the underside of the mower deck. Avoid spraying water directly into the engine. Allow the mower to dry thoroughly before storing.
It is not recommended to use the Toro 22280 mower on wet grass, as it can lead to clumping and clogging of the mower deck, and increase the risk of slipping. Wait until the grass is dry for the best results.
To store the mower during the off-season, remove any remaining fuel, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
