To start the Toro Recycler 48-cm 20820BC Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, set the mower to the choke position if the engine is cold, hold the safety bar against the handle, and pull the starter rope briskly.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, verify the air filter is clean, and inspect the fuel line for blockages.
The mower blade should be sharpened every 20-25 hours of use or at the beginning of each mowing season to ensure optimal performance.
To clean the underside of the mower deck, make sure the mower is off and the spark plug disconnected, then use a hose to spray off grass clippings and debris. For stubborn build-up, a plastic scraper can be used.
To change the oil, run the mower for a few minutes to warm up the oil, then disconnect the spark plug, tilt the mower on its side, and remove the oil cap to drain the old oil. Refill with the recommended oil type and check the level with the dipstick.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel, then move the levers to the desired position. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check the air filter every 25 hours of use. If it's dirty, remove it and gently tap it to remove debris, or replace it if it's excessively dirty or damaged.
For tall grass, raise the cutting height and mow in overlapping passes. Ensure the blade is sharp and mow slowly to prevent the engine from bogging down.
Excessive vibration may be due to an unbalanced blade. Check for damage and balance the blade. Also, inspect for loose parts or debris caught in the mower.
To winterize the mower, run the engine until the fuel is depleted, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry place. Disconnect the spark plug and remove the battery if applicable.
